8 Great Towns
8 Great Towns give business wide range of sites, amenities
Companies looking for a business-friendly location and an unparalleled pool of talented, highly educated workers will find it all in
Hamilton County, Ind.
Each of its eight great towns – Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, Westfield, Sheridan and the Jackson Township communities of Arcadia, Atlanta and Cicero – has a role in making Hamilton County a top-ranking suburban population and business center. Yet each also offers unique qualities and its own flavor for companies to choose a perfect address.
Carmel, the county’s largest community, is becoming widely known for its innovative problem-solving. When it didn’t have a downtown, the city government built the Arts and Design District, a walkable area of galleries, restaurants, design studios and boutiques. A Carmel resident invented stoplights in 1923, but it was the modern day government that embraced the concept of roundabouts to move traffic efficiently; city leaders from around the world now look to Carmel’s ideas. The newly completed Center for Performing Arts is a world-class venue. Businesses wanting a forward-thinking community look here, too.
Fishers, which was No. 1 on The Learning Channel’s Top 10 Cities for Families in 2011, has experienced meteoric growth and development over the past 20 years. Life science firms, technology-centered interests, distribution centers and the financial industry are among the companies that have moved in, moved up and stayed on. But there’s room for more. A Research and Technology Campus is being built, and plans for the Fishers Medical Technology Corridor – an upscale, corporate center– are being finalized.
The county seat,
Noblesville is a city that can be as big -- or as small -- as you want it to be. “Quaint” is the word used most often to describe its attractive, historic downtown. Yet minutes away, 21st century progress beats steadily at the upscale, outdoor Hamilton Town Center mall and neighboring corporate campuses. The city’s diverse and numerous amenities are a magnet for families as well as single professionals.
There’s always a plan on the drawing board in
Westfield, where the city expects to break ground this year on Grand Park, a 350-acre family sports development sure to become an incomparable destination. Grand Park is Westfield’s master plan for a community focus in bringing a variety of sports together with a bold vision for a corporate investment and development. City officials here are keenly interested in diversifying the economy and making Westfield a community that can get an incoming business through the six-step planning process and open in nine months or less.
A slower pace and true small-town living characterize Hamilton County’s four northern communities. Mom and Pop businesses flourish in
Arcadia,
Atlanta,
Cicero and
Sheridan because everyone knows Mom and Pop – and probably knew their parents, too. But big fish are welcome in these small ponds. Acres of open ground and a welcoming town spirit invite companies to take a look at doing business here.
Throughout Hamilton County, roads, sewers and water lines are in place to support continuous development. Twenty-one office and industrial parks plus several business corridors are ready for companies to break ground, while spec buildings present turnkey options.
The county and its municipalities offer incentives to qualifying investments, including real and personal property. The Hamilton County Alliance stands ready to assist interested companies.
