8/05/2011

Carmel IN- The City of Carmel is a finalist in the 2011 Savvy Awards competition presented by the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) for its efforts in communicating with residents and businesses about the Keystone Parkway project. Carmel will find out which of the top three awards it won when it is officially announced at the annual 3CMA meeting in early September.

3CMA is the leading organization for local governments that are creating enhanced ways of communicating with their citizens. Each year, 3CMA holds the Savvy Awards competition to recognize successful communication and marketing initiatives. Awards are presented to programs that are judged to be creative and successful with a great deal of emphasis being placed on measureable outcomes. Carmel’s Public Relations Department’s entry, titled “Connecting Carmel,” was entered in the Marketing and Tools – Community Issue category.

The primary goal of the communications campaign was to inform the community about its largest road construction project to date, while minimizing the impact to residents and garnering enthusiastic support for the final resulting roadway. There were many pieces included in the overall communications initiative during the three-year project from direct mail to major events.

The following companies and agencies played major roles in the City’s ability to achieve a high level of success with its communications initiative:

American Structurepoint
Carmel Chamber of Commerce
CarmelLink Business Committee (businesses in and around Merchants Square)
Enfront Marketing
Irwin Computer Services
Maco Press
Ogle Design
OMNI Productions
Stakeholder Public Relations
